My Favorite Gyro Restaurants around CBus

Whether you pronounce it like “euro” or “jy-ro,” you can’t deny that a gyro is a delicious dish at any time of the day. Here’s a playlist of some of the best places to grab a gyro in Columbus. So go through this list, pick one you’ve never been to, and wolf down a pita as you try to ignore the fact that you’re eating a delicious dead baby sheep.

The Gyro Shoppe

The Gyro Shoppe has everything you want out of a small ethnic take-out. It’s dark. It’s dirty. It’s delicious. They have an option for a “Super Gyro” but I still think you get more bang for your buck with the two mini gyros.

Buckeye Donuts

I know what you’re thinking. Why would a donut shop have good gyros? I don’t know the answer but you’ll just have to trust me on this one. The lamb is fantastic and the tsaziki is to die for. At least that’s what I thought at back in my college days at like 2am each weekend.

Apollo's Greek Kitchen

Back when I was the big man on campus, I spent many late nights waiting for the angry Greek lady at Apollo’s to call out my order. Two words of advice before entering. 1) Don’t pronounce it “jy-ro” or they won’t serve you and 2) if the pony-tail guy with the fedora is working, make sure to ask for the special sauce. He never told me what was in it, but he did say 2 of the ingredients are illegal in the state of Ohio. That was enough to convince me. And boy was it spicy.

Yanni's Greek Grill

Alright, I admit it. I’ve never actually had Yanni’s before. But everyone I talk to about Gyros tells me all about how great they are and with a 4.9/5 on Zomato, I felt they needed to be included. I will definitely visit after I post this, but in the meantime, let me know what you think.

Lavash Cafe

Lavash is awesome. Located in the Clintonville/Old North area you can’t go wrong with any of their mediterranean classics. The size of their gyro will not dissapoint.
